Skyway Bridge DUI Crash: Woman Testifies Today.

Kristen Watts Apologizes to Trooper Schuck Before Sentencing Hearing

Kristen Watts Legal Battle

Kristen Watts and her attorney, Bruce Denson, were back in court on Wednesday for a hearing before her sentencing hearing on November 6. Watts was found guilty of seriously injuring a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper, Toni Schuck, on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in March of 2022. She has been charged with a misdemeanor DUI and a felony charge of fleeing or attempting to evade law enforcement.

Kristen Watts Apologizes to Trooper Schuck

During the hearing, Watts announced her intent to testify and apologize to Trooper Schuck at the sentencing hearing, adding she wants to speak directly and personally to the Trooper from the stand in a public place. Her apology holds an important meaning to her. Watts is excited to have the opportunity to make it finally, and it’s something she has wanted to do for a long time, but just never found the right time due to the system’s complexities.

Kristen Watts Working to Turn Her Life Around

Despite her legal troubles, Watts has been working hard to turn her life around. “She’s been in school; she has been working hard. She wants to take her experience and help other people and she has put herself in a position to do that,” says Denson. Her legal team is planning to ask the court to impose just the eight months in jail that she has already served and then put her on probation so that she can be monitored, make sure she is staying out of trouble, and then help other people.

Conclusion

Kristen Watt’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 6. It’s refreshing to see her take responsibility for her actions and make amends. Hopefully, she will be able to continue her work to change her life around positively and help others.
